Nestled at the top of Kyrenia, Baldöken Graveyard—also known as the Islam Graveyard or Graveyard of the Forlorn—offers visitors a tranquil glimpse into the island's Ottoman past. Established following the Ottoman conquest of Cyprus in 1571, Baldöken Graveyard initially served as a burial site for Ottoman soldiers. By the late 17th century, it expanded to accommodate civilians, earning the name Islam Graveyard. Baldöken Graveyard is centrally located in Kyrenia, adjacent to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church and near the town's main car park. Visitors can reach the site by: 

Walking

From Kyrenia Harbour, head south towards Ramadan Cemil Square, then proceed along Ziya Rızkı Street. The cemetery will be on your left, a short walk from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church. 

Public Transport

Local buses (Dolmuş) are available from the center of Kyrenia. Alight near St. Andrew’s Anglican Church and walk a short distance to the cemetery. 

Taxi

Taxis are readily available in Kyrenia. A short ride from Kyrenia Harbour to the cemetery should cost approximately 5-10 EUR.
