Northern Cyprus hosts a diverse array of charitable organizations addressing various social, humanitarian, and community needs. Here's an overview of some notable charities and NGOs operating in the region:



  • North Cyprus Red Crescent Society (KKTC Kızılayı). Established in 1974, this organization provides disaster relief, humanitarian aid, and community support. Headquartered in Lefkoşa, it operates branches across the region and became an observer member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in 2013. 


  • North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust (NCCCT). Founded in 1988, NCCCT raises funds to supply medical equipment to state hospitals, particularly for cancer patients. It operates charity shops in Girne and organizes community fundraising events. 


  • Help Those With Cancer Association – Tulips. This organization offers support to cancer patients of all nationalities, providing assistance and resources to those affected by the disease.

👶 Child Welfare


  • SOS Children’s Villages Northern Cyprus. Since 1993, SOS has supported children without parental care through family-based care, youth facilities, and social centers in Lefkoşa. They also run a Family Strengthening Programme to prevent family breakdown. 


🐾 Animal Welfare


  • Kyrenia Animal Rescue (KAR). KAR operates a rescue center in the Besparmak Mountains, caring for over 200 animals. They rely on volunteers for animal care, fundraising, and educational outreach. 


  • Gönyeli/Little Ranch Rescue & Karmi Cats. These organizations focus on rescuing and rehoming stray animals. They collaborate with the Anglo-Turkish Association's charity shop to raise funds.

  • Anglo-Turkish Association (ATA) Founded in the 1980s, ATA fosters cultural exchange between Turkish Cypriots and expatriates. It organizes social events and raises funds for local causes, including education and animal welfare.


  • British Residents’ Society (BRS) Established in 1975, BRS provides support and information to British nationals residing in Northern Cyprus, liaising with local authorities on their behalf.


  • Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services This association raises funds to support emergency services in Northern Cyprus, facilitating the purchase of equipment and promoting community relations. 


🚨 Human Trafficking & Migrant Rights


Organizations like the Refugee Rights Association and the Human Rights Platform address issues related to human trafficking and the exploitation of migrant workers. They have highlighted concerns about deceptive recruitment practices and the mistreatment of women in certain sectors.
